For the dough: Quickly mix flour, egg, sour cream, and salt to form a soft dough. No long kneading required.

For the filling: Mix cottage cheese with lemon zest.

On a lightly floured surface, flatten small portions of dough and place a spoonful of filling in the center. Fold and pinch to seal, forming irregular shapes.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

Gently add the formed štrukli to the boiling water.

Boil for about 10-12 minutes, until they float and are cooked.

Melt butter in a small pan and lightly toast the chopped walnuts.

Drain the cooked štrukli and serve immediately, drizzled with melted butter and topped with toasted walnuts.
