  • Ground beef1 lb
  • Yellow onion1 medium
  • Provolone or mozzarella cheese, shredded1 cup
  • Cooking oil1 tbsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste

Steps

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bell peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Place the pepper halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.

  2. 2

Finely dice the yellow onion. Heat 1 tbsp of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

Add the ground beef to the frying pan with the onions. Break up the beef with a spoon and cook until browned. Drain off any excess fat. Season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

Stir the shredded cheese into the cooked beef and onion mixture. Mix well.

  5. 5

Spoon the cheesesteak filling evenly into the prepared bell pepper halves.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bell peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. 7

    Let cool slightly before serving.
