A traditional and beloved Balkan pastry filled with seasoned ground meat and baked until golden brown and crispy. This is the quintessential Burek experience.

- Phyllo dough sheets1 kg
- Ground beef700 g
- Onions2 large
- Vegetable oil150 ml
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Finely chop the onions and sauté them in a little oil until softened. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Season generously with salt and pepper. Let the mixture cool.

Prepare the phyllo dough: lightly brush each sheet with vegetable oil or melted butter. Layer several sheets (usually 3-5) on top of each other.

Spread a portion of the meat filling evenly over the layered phyllo sheets.

Carefully roll up the phyllo sheets with the filling, forming a long log. Alternatively, you can shape it into a round pie by spiraling the log.

Place the rolled burek into a greased baking dish. Brush the top with a little oil and water mixture.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 40-50 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
