- Shallots2
- Vegetable oil2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Water2 tbsp

Wash the fern shoots thoroughly and trim off any tough ends. Blanch briefly in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Pound or blend the belacan, garlic, shallots, and red chilies into a paste.

Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add the belacan paste and stir-fry until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
