- 1
In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt, egg, vegetable oil, and baking soda. Let it sit for a few minutes until it foams.
- 2
Gradually add flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Knead lightly on a floured surface.
- 3
Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a thin rope and then shape it into a cone or spiral around a metal cone mold or skewer.
- 4
Heat vegetable oil for frying in a deep pot over medium-high heat.
- 5
Carefully fry the shaped dough pieces in batches until golden brown on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
While the cones are frying, prepare the syrup by heating honey and lemon juice in a saucepan until warm and well combined. Add 1/4 cup of water and bring to a simmer.
- 7
Dip the warm fried cones into the warm syrup, ensuring they are fully coated. Let excess syrup drip off.
- 8
Place the syruped cones on a wire rack to cool and set. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
