- Whole milk4 cups
- Granulated sugar1/2 cup
- Salt1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract1 teaspoon
- Butter1 tablespoon

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, milk, and salt.

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the pudding is creamy.

Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
