Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

Wash, halve, and pit the peaches. Slice each half into wedges.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
