  • Onions, chopped2 large
  • Garlic, minced3 cloves
  • Sweet Hungarian paprika2.5 tbsp
  • Smoked paprika1 tsp
  • Beef broth1.2 liters
  • Potatoes, cubed400 g
  • Carrots, sliced1 large
  • Tomato paste1 tbsp
  • Lard or vegetable oil2 tbsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste
  • Fresh marjoram (for garnish)optional

    Heat lard or oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef cubes.

    Remove beef. Add chopped onions and sauté until softened. Add sliced smoked sausage and cook for a few minutes until lightly browned.

    Stir in minced garlic, sweet paprika, smoked paprika, and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

    Return beef to the pot. Pour in beef broth, scraping the bottom.

    Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1 hour until beef starts to tenderize.

    Add cubed potatoes and sliced carrots. Season with salt and pepper.
