- Grape leaves (brined)30-40 leaves
- Pre-cooked rice (e.g., microwaveable)1.5 cups
- Onion1 small
- Fresh dill1/4 cup, chopped
- Vegetable oil2 tablespoons
- Water1.5 cups
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Rinse brined grape leaves and drain well.

Finely chop the onion and sauté in vegetable oil until soft.

In a bowl, combine the pre-cooked rice, sautéed onion, chopped dill, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Prepare the grape leaves for rolling as in the traditional method.

Fill and roll the sarmi with the rice mixture.

Arrange the sarmi in a pot, seam-side down.

Pour 1.5 cups of water over the sarmi. Cover with a plate.

Bring to a boil, then simmer covered for 30-40 minutes, until heated through and tender.
