Ingredients
- Firm or extra-firm tofu1 block (about 14 oz)
- Cooking oil2-3 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
Steps
- 1
Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess water. You can do this by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a heavy object on top for about 15 minutes, or using a tofu press if available.
- 2
Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1-inch).
- 3
Heat the cooking oil in a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat on the stove.
- 4
Carefully add the tofu cubes to the hot oil in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if needed.
- 5
Pan-fry the tofu for about 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- 6
Season the crispy tofu with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss gently to coat.
- 7
Remove from the skillet and serve immediately.
