- Pumpernickel bread3 slices
- Smoked salmon, thinly sliced5 oz
- Cream cheese, softened2 tbsp
- Fresh dill, chopped1 tsp
- Butter lettuce, leaves2 leaves
- Red onion, thinly sliced1/4 small
- Capers, drained1 tbsp
- Lemon zest1/4 tsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Toast the pumpernickel bread slices until firm but not overly crisp.

In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese with chopped dill, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.

Spread the dill cream cheese mixture on one side of each toasted bread slice.

On the first slice, layer the butter lettuce and thinly sliced red onion.

Arrange the smoked salmon slices over the red onion.

Sprinkle capers over the salmon.
