Steps

    Sauté chopped onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic in the pressure cooker pot (if applicable) or a separate pan until softened. Transfer to pressure cooker.

    Add rinsed split peas, diced ham (or ham bone), broth, and bay leaf to the pressure cooker.

    Secure the lid and cook on high pressure for 20-25 minutes.

    Allow pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release any remaining pressure.

    Remove bay leaf and ham bone (if used). Shred any meat from the bone and return to the soup. Stir well.
