Ingredients
- Self-raising flour225g
- Baking powder1 tsp
- Salt1/4 tsp
- Black pepperpinch
- Unsalted butter50g
- Mature cheddar cheese75g
- Milk150ml
Steps

Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan/Gas Mark 6). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave.

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper into a bowl.

Stir in most of the grated cheese.

Pour in the melted butter and milk, mixing gently to form a soft dough.

Turn onto a floured surface and pat to about 2cm thickness.

Cut out scones and place on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
