  • Beef (pre-marinated for pašticada)1 kg
  • Onions2 medium
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Red wine (dry)250 ml
  • Beef broth250 ml
  • Tomato paste1 tbsp
  • Dried plums (prunes)50 g
  • Vinegar (red wine)1.5 tbsp
  • Bay leaf1
  • Olive oil2 tbsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste
  • Wateras needed
  • Store-bought gnocchi500 g

    Sear beef: Sear the pre-marinated beef in olive oil until browned. Remove from pot.

    Sauté aromatics: Sauté chopped onions and garlic until softened. Stir in tomato paste.

    Simmer: Return beef to the pot. Add red wine, beef broth, dried plums, vinegar, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1.5-2 hours, or until beef is tender.

    Cook gnocchi: While beef simmers, cook store-bought gnocchi according to package directions.

    Finish sauce: Remove beef, slice. Thicken sauce if needed. Adjust seasoning.
