- Beef (pre-marinated for pašticada)1 kg
- Onions2 medium
- Garlic2 cloves
- Red wine (dry)250 ml
- Beef broth250 ml
- Tomato paste1 tbsp
- Dried plums (prunes)50 g
- Vinegar (red wine)1.5 tbsp
- Bay leaf1
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Wateras needed
- Store-bought gnocchi500 g

Sear beef: Sear the pre-marinated beef in olive oil until browned. Remove from pot.

Sauté aromatics: Sauté chopped onions and garlic until softened. Stir in tomato paste.

Simmer: Return beef to the pot. Add red wine, beef broth, dried plums, vinegar, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1.5-2 hours, or until beef is tender.

Cook gnocchi: While beef simmers, cook store-bought gnocchi according to package directions.

Finish sauce: Remove beef, slice. Thicken sauce if needed. Adjust seasoning.

Serve: Serve sliced beef with sauce and cooked gnocchi. Garnish with parsley.
