- Short-grain rice100 g
- Vegetable broth1.5 liters
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- Sugar1 tsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Wash and roughly chop the tomatoes. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the chopped garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down.

Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes.

Carefully blend the soup using an immersion blender until smooth. Alternatively, transfer to a regular blender in batches.

Return the soup to the pot if using a regular blender. Stir in the rice and sugar. Season with salt and black pepper.

Simmer gently for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through. Adjust seasoning if needed.
