- Sauerkraut (Kiseli kupus)750 g
- Smoked kielbasa or other smoked sausage400 g
- Onion1 medium
- Garlic2 cloves
- Bay leaf1
- Paprika (sweet)1/2 tsp
- Vegetable oil1 tbsp
- Water or brothas needed
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Drain the sauerkraut. Slice the smoked sausage into rounds.

Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté the onion until translucent, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the sliced sausage and cook for a few minutes until lightly browned.

Stir in the paprika.

Add the sauerkraut and bay leaf. Pour in enough water or broth to cover.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the sauerkraut is tender.
