- Patin fish (catfish)500g
- Tempoyak (fermented durian)100g
- Chili paste (sambal oelek or similar)2 tbsp
- Shallots2
- Garlic2 cloves
- Water150ml
- Saltto taste
- Sugar1 tsp
- Cilantro (for garnish)small bunch

Finely chop or blend shallots and garlic.

In a pot, combine tempoyak, chili paste, chopped shallots and garlic, and water. Bring to a simmer.

Add the catfish pieces. Cook until the fish is done, about 15 minutes.

Season with salt and sugar to taste. Stir well.

Simmer for another 5 minutes. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.
