  • Cockles (Kerang)1 kg
  • Tamarind Paste3 tbsp
  • Water400 ml
  • Red Chilies2, finely chopped
  • Garlic2 cloves, minced
  • Lime Juice1.5 tbsp
  • Sugar1/2 tsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Cilantrochopped, for garnish

    Clean the cockles thoroughly. Discard any open or damaged ones.

    In a pot, mix tamarind paste with 400 ml of water. Stir until dissolved.

    Add the minced garlic and chopped red chilies to the tamarind water. Bring to a simmer for 2 minutes.

    Add the cleaned cockles. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes, until they open. Discard any unopened clams.
