  • Red bell pepper1
  • Green bell pepper1
  • Chili padi (Thai bird's eye chilies)3-5 (or to taste)
  • Garlic4 cloves
  • Ginger1 inch piece
  • Soy sauce3 tbsp
  • Chili paste (sambal oelek or similar)1 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tbsp
  • Cornstarch1 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil3 tbsp
  • Water1/4 cup
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste
  • Sliced red chiliesfor garnish

    Slice beef thinly. Marinate with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp cornstarch, salt, and pepper for 15 minutes.

    Chop onion and bell peppers. Mince garlic and ginger. Finely chop chili padi.

    In a small bowl, mix remaining soy sauce, chili paste, sugar, remaining cornstarch, and water to create the sauce.

    Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add marinated beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove beef.

    Add remaining 1 tbsp oil. Add garlic, ginger, and chopped chili padi, stir-fry until fragrant.

    Add onions and stir-fry until slightly softened.

    Add bell peppers and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until crisp-tender.

    Return beef to the wok. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir until thickened.
