- Pre-cooked compressed rice cakes (nasi impit)1 packet (approx. 500g)
- Peanut butter (smooth)200g
- Chili paste (sambal tumis)2 tbsp
- Shallots, finely chopped3
- Garlic, minced2 cloves
- Tamarind paste1 tbsp
- Coconut milk200ml
- Sugar1 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Cooking oil2 tbsp

Slice the pre-cooked nasi impit into bite-sized cubes.

Heat cooking oil in a pan. Sauté the chopped shallots and minced garlic until fragrant.

Add the chili paste and cook for 2 minutes.

Stir in the peanut butter until well combined.

Pour in the coconut milk and tamarind paste. Add sugar and salt. Stir well.

Simmer the sauce, stirring constantly, until it thickens. Add water if needed to reach desired consistency.
