  • Water2 tablespoons
  • Eggs2 large
  • Sweetened condensed milk1 can (14 oz)
  • Milk (whole)1.5 cups
  • Instant coffee granules2 tablespoons
  • Vanilla extract1 teaspoon

    Make the caramel: Heat sugar and water in a saucepan until amber. Pour into 4 ramekins.

    Whisk eggs in a bowl.

    In a separate pot, heat milk and instant coffee until coffee dissolves. Let cool slightly.

    Gradually whisk the warm coffee milk into the eggs, then stir in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla.

    Pour custard over caramel. Cover ramekins.

    Steam the flans in a steamer basket over simmering water for 30-40 minutes, or until set.

    Cool completely, then chill for at least 2 hours.
