- Swiss cheese slices4 slices
- Burger buns (e.g., brioche)2
- Mayonnaise2 tbsp

Form ground beef into two patties. Season with salt and pepper.

Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until softened and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the onions. Cook until mushrooms are browned and tender, about 5-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Increase skillet heat to medium-high. Cook the beef patties for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.

Top each patty with two slices of Swiss cheese during the last minute of cooking. Cover to melt.
