Ingredients
- Yellow onions2 large
- All-purpose flour1.5 cups
- Cornstarch0.5 cup
- Baking powder1 teaspoon
- Salt1 teaspoon
- Black pepper0.5 teaspoon
- Paprika1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder0.5 teaspoon
- Cold lager beer1.5 cups
- Vegetable oil for frying4 cups

Slice onions into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

Gradually whisk in the cold beer until a smooth, thick batter forms. It should coat the back of a spoon.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 375°F (190°C).

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Let excess drip off.

Carefully place battered onion rings into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Fry for 3-5 minutes per batch, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
