Ingredients
- Broccoli4 cups, chopped
- Cheddar cheese2 cups, shredded
- Butter4 tablespoons
- Onion1 cup, chopped
- Garlic2 cloves, minced
- All-purpose flour1/4 cup
- Chicken broth4 cups
- Milk2 cups
- Heavy cream1/2 cup
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Melt butter in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to form a roux.

Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer.

Add the chopped broccoli and cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Reduce heat to low. Stir in the milk and heavy cream. Do not boil.
