Ingredients
- All-purpose flour4 cups
- Active dry yeast2.25 teaspoons
- Granulated sugar1/4 cup
- Salt1.5 teaspoons
- Warm milk1 cup
- Unsalted butter, melted1/4 cup
- Large egg1
- Water1/4 cup

In a small bowl, combine warm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.

Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.

Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
