Ingredients
- Chocolate cake (store-bought or leftover)300g
- Heavy cream400ml
- Powdered sugar50g
- Kirschwasser (optional)30ml
- Sour cherries (canned or jarred, drained)200g
- Cherry jam or preserves100g
- Dark chocolate (for shavings)20g
- Water2 tbsp

Crumble the chocolate cake into bite-sized pieces.

Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. If using, gently fold in Kirschwasser.

In a small saucepan, gently heat the cherry jam with the drained cherries and 2 tbsp water until just warmed through and slightly more fluid. Let cool slightly.

In individual serving glasses or bowls, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of crumbled cake, followed by a layer of cherry mixture, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat layers until glasses are full, ending with whipped cream.

Garnish the top of each trifle with chocolate shavings and a cherry. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
