Ingredients

  • Chocolate cake (store-bought or leftover)300g
  • Heavy cream400ml
  • Powdered sugar50g
  • Kirschwasser (optional)30ml
  • Sour cherries (canned or jarred, drained)200g
  • Cherry jam or preserves100g
  • Dark chocolate (for shavings)20g
  • Water2 tbsp

Steps

  1. 1

Crumble the chocolate cake into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. If using, gently fold in Kirschwasser.

  3. 3

In a small saucepan, gently heat the cherry jam with the drained cherries and 2 tbsp water until just warmed through and slightly more fluid. Let cool slightly.

  4. 4

In individual serving glasses or bowls, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of crumbled cake, followed by a layer of cherry mixture, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat layers until glasses are full, ending with whipped cream.
