Ingredients
- Black tea (Assam or Darjeeling)4 bags or 4 tbsp loose leaf
- Water2 cups
- Whole milk2 cups
- Cinnamon sticks2
- Cardamom pods5-6
- Star anise2
- Cloves4-5
- Fresh ginger, sliced1 inch piece
- Sugar or honeyto taste
- Ice cubesplenty

In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, star anise, cloves, and ginger. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes to infuse the spices.

Add the black tea bags or loose leaf tea to the saucepan. Steep for 5 minutes.

Strain the spiced tea mixture into a pitcher, discarding the solids. Stir in sugar or honey until dissolved.

Allow the chai concentrate to cool slightly. Then, stir in the milk.
