- Granulated Sugar300g
- Eggs (yolks)6
- Cornstarch100g
- Vanilla Extract2 tsp
- Butter50g

Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out half the puff pastry thinly and line a greased baking tray (approx. 30x40 cm). Prick with a fork. Bake at 200°C (400°F) until golden brown. Repeat with the other half of the puff pastry, bake, and set aside.

Make the custard: Heat 800ml of milk with 250g of sugar until simmering. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks with cornstarch, remaining milk (200ml), and vanilla extract until smooth.

Temper the yolks: Gradually whisk the hot milk into the yolk mixture. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan.

Cook the custard: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the custard thickens considerably. Remove from heat, stir in butter and salt. Let it cool slightly.

Assemble: Spread the warm custard evenly over the baked bottom puff pastry layer. Place the second baked puff pastry layer on top.

Chill and serve: Let the Kremšnita cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours. Dust generously with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
