- Onion1 large

- Smoked pork (e.g., bacon or ham hock)100g
- Vegetable oil or lard2 tbsp
- Paprika (sweet)1 tsp
- Flour1 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Water or brothas needed

Trim and cut green beans into bite-sized pieces. Peel and dice potatoes.

Dice the smoked pork and sauté it in a large pot with oil/lard until slightly crispy. Remove pork and set aside, leaving rendered fat.

Finely chop the onion and sauté in the same pot until softened and translucent.

Add minced garlic and paprika, cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in flour to make a roux, cook for 1-2 minutes.

Gradually whisk in water or broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer.

Add the green beans and potatoes to the pot. Add the reserved smoked pork.

Season with salt and black pepper. Cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and the stew has thickened.
