  • Mackerel (Ikan Tenggiri)500g, cut into pieces
  • Coconut milk400ml
  • Water100ml
  • Shallots1 large, blended
  • Garlic2 cloves, blended
  • Turmeric powder1 tsp
  • Chili paste (sambal tumis)1-2 tbsp, to taste
  • Tamarind paste1 tsp, diluted in water
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste
  • Vegetable oil1 tbsp
  • Spring onionsfor garnish

    In a pot, combine coconut milk, water, blended shallots, garlic, turmeric powder, and chili paste.

    Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent curdling.

    Add the mackerel pieces and tamarind water. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked.

    Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
