- Day-old cooked rice4 cups
- Sambal belacan (store-bought)2-3 tbsp
- Shallots2, thinly sliced
- Garlic2 cloves, minced
- Protein (e.g., small shrimp or diced chicken)1/2 cup
- Mixed fresh herbs (e.g., cilantro, mint, spring onion greens)1/2 cup, chopped
- Vegetable oil2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
