  • Soy sauce50 ml
  • Garlic, minced4 cloves
  • Ginger, grated1 tbsp
  • Chili padi, sliced (optional)2-3
  • Shallots, sliced2 medium
  • Lemongrass, bruised1 stalk
  • Star anise1
  • Cinnamon stick1 inch
  • Vegetable oil2 tbsp
  • Water100 ml
  • Saltto taste
  • Black pepperto taste
  • Cilantro, for garnisha few sprigs

    Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat. Sear chicken pieces until golden brown on all sides. Remove chicken and set aside.

    Add lemongrass, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Stir for 30 seconds.
