- Breadcrumbs1/4 cup
- Fish sauce2 tbsp
- Sugar1 tsp
- Black pepper1/2 tsp
- Salt1/2 tsp
- Vegetable oil2 tbsp
- Canned crushed tomatoes400g

- Water1/2 cup
- Baguettes4
- Cucumber1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro1 bunch
- Pickled daikon and carrot (do chua)1 cup
- Chili peppers (optional)1-2, sliced
Các bước
- 1
In a bowl, combine ground pork, minced shallots, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, fish sauce, sugar, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
- 2
Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
- 3
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Sear the meatballs on all sides until browned. Remove meatballs and set aside.
- 4
In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- 5
Return the meatballs to the skillet. Add water, bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-30 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- 6
While the sauce simmers, slice the baguettes lengthwise, leaving one side attached if possible. Lightly toast them if desired.
- 7
To assemble, spoon several meatballs and a generous amount of sauce into each baguette. Top with sliced cucumber, fresh cilantro, pickled daikon and carrot, and optional chili peppers.
