- Cornstarch1/2 cup
- Chinese five-spice powder1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oilfor frying
- Salt1/2 teaspoon
- Waterfor rinsing
- Garlic2 cloves, minced
- Red chili flakes1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil1 teaspoon

Gently rinse and cut silken tofu into 1.5-inch cubes. Pat very dry.

In a shallow dish, combine cornstarch, five-spice powder, and salt.

Toss tofu cubes in the seasoned cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.

Heat oil in a wok or deep skillet over medium-high heat.

Fry coated tofu in batches until golden brown and crispy.

Remove tofu and drain on paper towels.

In a small pan, sauté minced garlic and chili flakes in a little oil until fragrant.
