Nguyên liệu

  • Black sesame seeds1 cup
  • Glutinous rice flour1/2 cup
  • Sugar1/2 cup (or to taste)
  • Water6 cups
  • Salt1/4 teaspoon
  • Tapioca starch (optional, for thickening)1 tablespoon

Các bước

  1. 1

Toast black sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until fragrant, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool.

  2. 2

Grind the toasted sesame seeds into a fine powder using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.

  3. 3

In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour with a little water to form a soft dough. Roll into small balls (about 1/2 inch diameter).

  4. 4

Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Add the small glutinous rice balls and cook until they float to the surface. Remove and set aside.

  5. 5

In the same pot, combine the ground black sesame powder, remaining 1 cup of water, sugar, and salt. Whisk well to combine.

  6. 6

Bring the sesame mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. If using tapioca starch, mix it with a little cold water and stir it into the simmering soup to thicken.

  7. 7

Simmer for about 5-10 minutes until the soup thickens slightly and the flavors meld. Add the cooked glutinous rice balls back into the soup.

  8. 8

    Serve hot in bowls.
