- Banana leaves12-15 leaves
- Wood ash (food grade)40g

Soak glutinous rice in water with wood ash and salt for at least 4 hours. Drain well.

Soak mung beans in water for at least 2 hours. Drain and steam until tender. Mash lightly and season with a pinch of salt.

Prepare banana leaves by washing and softening them. Cut into rectangular pieces.

Assemble by placing rice in the center of folded banana leaves, creating a well. Add a spoonful of mashed mung beans. Cover with more rice, ensuring it's fully enclosed. Fold leaves into a pyramid shape and tie securely with twine.

Boil the wrapped cakes in a large pot of water for 3-4 hours, ensuring they are fully submerged. Add hot water if necessary.
