Cook sushi rice according to package directions. While rice is cooking, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved. Gently fold the vinegar mixture into the cooked rice.

Lay a bamboo sushi mat on a clean surface. Place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on the mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin, even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about a 1-inch border at the top.

Arrange a strip of cream cheese horizontally across the rice, about one-third of the way up from the bottom edge. Top the cream cheese with a strip of smoked salmon and thin slices of avocado.

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the nori tightly from the bottom edge upwards, pressing gently to form a compact cylinder. Seal the top edge with a little water if needed.

Wet a sharp knife and slice the roll into 6-8 pieces. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.
