Ingredients
- Beef brisket1 (3-4 lb)
- Onion1 large, sliced
- Garlic4 cloves, minced
- Beef broth2 cups
- Worcestershire sauce1/4 cup
- Tomato paste2 tablespoons
- Bay leaf2
- Kosher saltTo taste
- Black pepperTo taste

Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).

Season the brisket generously with salt and pepper.

In a Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, sauté onions until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Add bay leaves.

Place the brisket in the pot, fat side up. The liquid should come about halfway up the sides of the brisket.

Cover the pot tightly and braise in the preheated oven for 3-4 hours, or until fork-tender.

Remove brisket from the pot and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

Strain the braising liquid, skim off fat, and reduce slightly if desired for a sauce. Serve brisket with the sauce.
