Ingredients

- Onion1 medium
- Garlic2 cloves
- Vegetable broth4 cups

Rinse the red lentils thoroughly.

Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cumin, cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in the rinsed red lentils and vegetable broth.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until lentils are very soft and have broken down.
