- Garlic, minced2 cloves
- Egg1 large
- Breadcrumbs1/2 cup
- Worcestershire sauce2 tbsp
- Beef broth2 cups
- Mushrooms, sliced8 oz
- Butter2 tbsp
- All-purpose flour2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Vegetable oil2 tbsp
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)1 tbsp
Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 2
Form the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties.
- 3
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove patties from skillet and set aside.
- 4
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and cook until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
- 5
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- 6
Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- 7
Return the patties to the skillet. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until patties are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
- 8
Season gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
