Ingredients
- Ribeye steak1.5 lbs
- Hoagie rolls4
- Yellow onion1 large
- Cheez Whiz or Provolone cheese8 oz
- Vegetable oil or butter2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Thinly slice the ribeye steak against the grain. Slice the hoagie rolls horizontally, but not all the way through.

Thinly slice the yellow onion.

Heat oil or butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced onions and sauté until softened and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove onions from skillet and set aside.

Add the thinly sliced steak to the hot skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, breaking up the steak with spatulas, until browned and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes.

Return the onions to the skillet with the steak. Stir to combine.

If using provolone, lay slices over the steak and onion mixture and let melt. If using Cheez Whiz, spoon it over the mixture and stir until melted and combined.

Spoon the steak and cheese mixture into the prepared hoagie rolls.

Serve immediately.
