  • Potatoes1 kg
  • Gruyère Cheese (grated)100g
  • Butter4 tbsp
  • Salt1 tsp
  • Black Pepper1/2 tsp
  • Fresh Thyme1 tbsp, chopped
  • Fresh Rosemary1 tsp, chopped

Steps

    Peel and grate the potatoes using a coarse grater.

    Squeeze out excess moisture from the grated potatoes.

    In a bowl, combine the grated potatoes, grated Gruyère cheese, chopped thyme, chopped rosemary, salt, and pepper.

    Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.

    Add the potato and cheese mixture to the skillet, pressing it down evenly.

    Cook for 12-15 minutes until the bottom is deeply golden brown and crispy.

    Carefully flip the rösti using a plate or spatula.

    Add the remaining 2 tbsp of butter to the skillet.

    Cook the second side for another 12-15 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
