A simplified version of the traditional Istrian dish, this recipe uses boneless chicken and pre-made fuži pasta to significantly cut down on cooking time while retaining the core flavors of the classic žgvaceta.

Sastojci
- Fuži pasta (dried)400g
- Boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breast, cut into bite-sized pieces600g
- Onions, finely chopped1 large
- Garlic, minced3 cloves
- Tomato passata or pureed tomatoes400g
- Chicken broth150ml
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- Dried herbs (e.g., oregano, thyme)1 tsp
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)1 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken pieces. Remove and set aside.

Add chopped onions to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Add minced garlic and dried herbs, cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in the tomato passata and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.

Return the chicken to the skillet. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Meanwhile, cook fuži pasta according to package directions. Drain.

Serve the fuži pasta topped with the chicken stew. Garnish with parsley.
