
Traditional Bednjanski Štrukli

A classic Croatian strudel-like dish from the Bednja region, featuring a thin dough filled with cottage cheese and baked until golden brown. It's a comforting and traditional delicacy.

- Cottage cheese500g
- Sour cream150g
- Egg yolk1
- Sugar2 tbsp
- Vanilla sugar1 tsp
- Butter (for brushing)50g
- Parsley (for garnish)1 tbsp chopped

For the dough: Mix flour, egg, melted butter, salt, and water to form a smooth, elastic dough. Knead for 10 minutes. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

For the filling: In a bowl, combine cottage cheese, sour cream, egg yolk, sugar, and vanilla sugar. Mix well.

Roll out the dough thinly on a floured surface. Spread the cottage cheese filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.

Carefully roll up the dough like a strudel. Seal the edges.

Cut the strudel into individual portions (about 5-7 cm wide).

Place the štrukli in a greased baking dish.

Brush the tops with melted butter.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
