Traditional Serbian 'peaches' cookies, shaped and colored to resemble small peaches, filled with a sweet jam and dusted with sugar. A beloved festive treat.

- Butter, softened250g
- Sugar100g
- Eggs2
- Yogurt100ml
- Baking powder1 tsp
- Vanilla extract1 tsp
- Lemon zest1
- Apricot jam200g
- Powdered sugarfor dusting
- Red food coloringa few drops
- Salt1 pinch

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and lemon zest.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with yogurt, until a soft dough forms. Knead gently.

Divide the dough into small portions and roll into balls.

Bake the balls at 180°C (350°F) for about 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.

Once cooled, carefully scoop out a small portion from the bottom of each cookie half.

Mix the scooped-out crumbs with apricot jam and a few drops of red food coloring to create a paste.

Fill the hollowed-out cookies with the jam mixture and press two halves together.
