A simplified version of the traditional Splitska Torta, using store-bought sponge cake and a quicker chocolate ganache for the filling and frosting. It retains the essence of the original with candied fruits and almonds but is much faster to prepare.

- Store-bought sponge cake layers3
- Dark chocolate300g
- Heavy cream300ml
- Rum50ml
- Candied fruits (mixed)100g
- Slivered almonds40g
- Powdered sugar2 tbsp
- Saltpinch

Prepare the chocolate ganache: Heat heavy cream until simmering. Pour over chopped dark chocolate. Let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Stir in rum and powdered sugar.

Assemble the cake: Place one sponge cake layer on a serving plate. Brush with rum. Spread a generous layer of ganache. Repeat with remaining layers.

Frost the cake: Cover the top and sides of the cake with the remaining ganache. Smooth the frosting.

Decorate the cake: Arrange candied fruits and slivered almonds on top and sides. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
