
Traditional Baked Sea Bream with Swiss Chard

A classic Dalmatian dish featuring a whole sea bream baked to perfection with Swiss chard, garlic, and olive oil. Simple, healthy, and full of Mediterranean flavors.

- Swiss Chard1 kg
- Garlic4 cloves
- Olive Oil100 ml
- Lemon1
- Saltto taste
- Black Pepperto taste
- White Wine (optional)100 ml

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Clean the sea bream, making a few diagonal cuts on each side. Season generously with salt and pepper inside and out.

Wash the Swiss chard thoroughly. Chop the stems and leaves separately.

In a large baking dish, toss the Swiss chard stems with half of the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Bake for 10 minutes.

Add the Swiss chard leaves to the baking dish, along with the remaining olive oil and sliced garlic. Place the seasoned sea bream on top of the chard. Add lemon slices inside the fish cavity.

Pour the white wine (if using) around the fish.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Baste the fish with the pan juices halfway through.

Let the fish rest for a few minutes before serving directly from the baking dish or plating.
