- Olive oil3 tbsp
- Onion1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic4 cloves, minced
- Tomato paste3 tbsp
- Canned whole peeled tomatoes14.5 oz can, crushed
- Red pepper flakes1/2 tsp (or to taste)
- Dry red wine1/4 cup
- Fresh parsley1/4 cup, chopped
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Water1/4 cup, if needed

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Pour in red wine and scrape up any browned bits. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.

Add crushed whole peeled tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the shrimp to the sauce. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.

Stir in fresh parsley. Adjust seasoning. If too thick, add a little water. Serve hot.
