- Vegetable oil for frying500ml
- Powdered sugar for dustingto taste

Activate yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and lemon zest. Make a well in the center.

Pour the activated yeast mixture and the beaten egg into the well. Mix to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 170-180°C (340-350°F).

Gently punch down the dough. Using wet hands or two spoons, shape small portions of dough into irregular balls or shapes.

Carefully drop the dough pieces into the hot oil, frying in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and puffed up.

Remove the uštipci from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
