- Red chilies100g
- Shallots50g
- Belacan (shrimp paste)0.5 tsp

Roughly chop the red chilies and shallots.

In a blender or food processor, combine tempoyak, chopped chilies, shallots, belacan, salt, and water.

Pulse until a coarse paste forms. Avoid over-processing; some texture is desirable.

Transfer to a small saucepan and heat gently for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened and fragrant. Do not overcook.
